A-Players Need A-Systems
Talent scales with structure: roles, culture, and a repeatable way to win.
We all love the flashy highlights. 🏀
But titles and real success are built in the seasons no one posts about.
Take Michael Jordan.
He arrived in Chicago in 1984.
He was electric: scoring titles, MVP-level talent, sold-out arenas.
And still…
💥 No championships.
Why?
Because one great player can win you games.
Only a great team can win you championships.
🐂 The Bulls only started winning when the project changed:
- They added Scottie Pippen and key role players
- They brought in Phil Jackson with a real system, not just vibes
- They built a culture where defense, passing and roles mattered as much as Jordan’s heroics
Result?
🏆They went on to win six championships: 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998.
Not because Jordan suddenly became good.
But because the team and the system finally caught up with his talent.
The same is true in business. 📈
Short-term mindset:
“Let’s just win the next quarter.”
Long-term leadership mindset:
“Let’s build a team and a system that can keep winning for years.”
Because in companies, just like in the NBA:
- A star performer can save a deal
- Only a real team can build a sustainable business
The player wins you games.
The team wins you championships.
